Dearest readers:
Wow. I was stunned by the encouragement I got after my last post. You really showed up to let me know you’re still here!
When I wrote that post, I honestly thought there weren’t many people out there still reading, who would really notice or care if I quit. Believe it or not, the average post takes me about four hours to complete (between drafting, writing, editing, formatting photos, etc), and I worried I was wasting my time.
Since the comments sections of blogs don’t generally see much action these days, and Facebook doesn’t want anyone to see what I share unless I give them *the cash money,* I often felt like I was writing into the void.
I SO SO appreciate all of you who spoke up to let me know you still care! I got so many surprising words of encouragement in the comments section of the post, on Facebook, and via email. I started out trying to respond to each comment individually but soon became overwhelmed. So I thought I’d send out one big, general THANK YOU. I read every comment and treasured every one.
I have a couple of hard posts in the works right now, and your encouragement gave me the burst of energy I needed to keep moving forward.
Thanks, friends. I guess I’ll keep posting here, even if it’s only every couple of months. I am so incredibly grateful for this wonderful online community. You people are the absolute best.

Yayyy!! I’m so happy to hear this! I read every post with ferver and am glad to hear you’re not going anywhere!
Ditto above! And ditto someone else in the comments of your last post — I used to read a ton of blogs, now I only read every single post on … I count three. And one of them is yours.
Also! I checked out a bunch of the books from your unschooling year summary. That visual math book is so cool!
So glad you’re going to keep writing. 💕
I have been
I have been a reader for several years and I always appreciate what you share. Maybe especially the ones where you’re not sure just what you believe anymore because I can relate on some levels. I also went back this year to make a handmade Birthday banner based on the one you talked about several years ago. It was great inspiration for my own. 😊

Oh, good! I was worried that we wouldn’t hear from you again, and that would make me sad!
Kathleen,
I don’t do as much work on the computer any more, so I spend less time online and less time looking at blogs. I’m pretty sure yours is the only blog I still read every post of. I really enjoy it and have learned so much from you. I hope you stick around!
HOORAY!!!! :) XO!
So glad you found the encouragement! I’m glad you will still be around and I look forward to anything you are compelled to blog about ❤️
I’ll add my voice to the throngs. Yes, you’re one of the few boggy-bloggers that still blogs. And so, you’re also one of the few I stop by to see if you’ve written. Gotta say: I’m invested in your story a bit like that of a television character! Is that weird? Keep on writing! Maybe it will make you feel good that I’m not an RSS user, just a weird internet user who occasionally pops into her favorite places to see if there’s anything new. In the mornings, I read Teacher Tom, in the afternoons, Amanda Blake Soule, and then, on random Tuesdays, Kathleen Quiring!! That’s pretty esteemed company if you ask me!
Yay!
I think it’s really ironic that the post you wrote wondering about the death of blogging got many, many comments!
I can’t speak for others, but I check your blog at least once a week. I really like this form. It’s warmer and more personal somehow than an enewsletter or even a podcast–it often reads like a letter to a friend. And while I agree with many posters above that blogging has been marred by monetization, it’s still a wonderful way to write and share and give us a glimpse into your life. I am so glad you’re doing it!
